  7. ConTemplate - Thank you so much! I am elated!!! My family is elated, too! Yesterday was a huge disappointment, and today is such a surprise! I don't think anyone saw this coming, but we all truly hoped for it. And it's true that there's so much more to happen, but I think we can say that Egypt's people have shown that they know what they DON'T want. I am optimistic for the future.

Monica - You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for your support and your very gentle kindness. I so truly appreciate it. Happiness is in the air... we can all smell it now!

  8. LW - I think we can tell by now that it's true, though when my mother called me this morning and was screaming with joy into my ear over the phone, I was in utter disbelief!

Pat - Yes, I would be shaking in my booties if I were the Iranian government, right about now. I don't think anyone can beat the will of a nation. No, nobody can! Thanks so much for your support, Pat!

  9. Cremilde - I just don't know what to say; I'm so dumbfounded. Quand ma mere m'a telephone pour me dire les nouvelles, I was jumping up and down and crying at the same time, and my husband kept telling me to calm down because he didn't know what the heck was going on. My mom and I were talking in Arabic and he couldn't figure out what we were saying, so he finally turned on the TV and saw what had happened. And when I saw how happy my people were, I started crying even harder. The tears of joy are so much more felt that any smile or laughter. Merci, ma belle, for your support, and for ton amitie, and for always being une etoile! :-)

Jenean - Yes, there is nothing more powerful than the will of a people. We are all just on cloud nine with joy!!! And speaking of "eternal mother", another name for Egypt is Umm el Donia, which means The Mother of the World. Our Mother has been redeemed, as I was confident she would be. It was a matter of time! Thank you so much, Jenean, and I'll swing by your place soon!

  14. Congratulations to you and your country, Nevine! Even though the future is unknown, I am full of joy and hope for the government and people of Egypt.

  15. Judy - Yes, they truly have! They have even inspired themselves, I think. I don't think any Egyptian truly imagined this would succeed, but I do know we all hoped it would. And it has, in fact! I am so proud of my people, and of what they've done. I only wish I had been there to join them in their days of agony... and in their final moment of rebirth!

David - The time for blessings has truly come, now! Things can only get better... we hope! :-) Thank you my dear friend!!!

  16. Adriana - "Peace!" That was the continuous chant of every Egyptian as they weathered this storm. No one wanted it to get bloody, except those who were motivated by their own ends, and who tried to turn it into a tragedy. But we have always been a peaceful people, and here is the final product. A proud and happy Egypt. I can't thank you enough for your enthusiasm, Adriana. I have so much hope for the future, now. Egypt's future is gleaming in my imagination.

Bard - Where have you been? Gone so long... Thanks a million for stopping in and leaving such nice and hopeful words. It's so true that no one knows how exactly things will play out, but something good has happened, and we're all hopeful that only good things will result from this huge change. I hope to see you back soon on the blogosphere, Bard!

  19. Finally Nevine Egypt is free from the dust and the rust. A new beginning and a new era. All for one and one for all. Yesterday it was a great day for all of us. We are so proud from what Egyptians did. A peaceful revolution although all the attempts o turn it a bloody one.

    VIVE L'EGYPTE...

    P.S. Guess what.
I'm now hearing the great news and cheerful voices fill my ears!

  22. I sincerely hope that the new boss, or bosses, will be better than the old boss. Just read that the head of the army will be in charge until things get settled down a bit... that already seems to be cause for concern. But we must remain optimistic I think. I hope. And I hope that all your family, relatives, friends, are ok, after all the craziness and violence of the past weeks. Yes, let us hope it is indeed a cause for celebration...

    ReplyDelete
  23. now all we can do is pray that somebody true of heart picks up the leadership and it does not fall into chaos

  24. Susan - I have been glued to the news these past couple of weeks, in the middle of trying to study, as well. It has been such a challenging time, more emotionally challenging than anything else. But I'm happy that the news is good, finally! Thank you so much for your support, Susan. You are awesome!!! Big hugs back!

Christopher - I've been glowing since yesterday. I'm glowing so much I wasn't able to sleep last night because I had fireworks going off in my imagination, and I kept fantasizing about being there. Oh, dreams! But hey, I saw the joy of my people, and I felt my own joy with them. And that is just priceless. Thank you so much for sharing the moment with every Egyptian, Christopher!

  25. Khaled - I think you will understand what I mean when I tell you that when I moved from Egypt a few years ago, I would feel an air of stagnation upon returning to visit. I used to feel this air even when I lived there, but moving away helped me realize just how thick that atmosphere was. Or maybe it was just getting thicker, and that was finally why everyone exploded with breathlessness and said, "No more!" Good for Egypt for reclaiming her dignity, and for doing it without evil intentions, except for the intentions of those few who tried to ruin it for their own ends. It's a new era, indeed! I join you in wishing our country the brightest future possible, Khaled, and in chanting VIVE L'EGYPTE!!!

Blasphemous Aesthete - I think it was more of a desire to save our country than a desire for revenge that motivated Egyptians. And I truly think that this was what kept that whole process peaceful to a great extent, and also what kept it legitimate. I thank you profoundly for your expression of congratulations. I am elated beyond words, and so proud of every Egyptian who plunged into that unknown to make this reality real!

  26. Betty - Those voices filled my heart and kept me up all night, the looks on the faces and the cheers and the chants. I really couldn't keep my eyes shut, and I felt every drumbeat, every cry of hope, every chant of freedom, inside my heart. Thank you so much, my dearest, for being here and for your hugs, which I return to you a thousandfold!

Owen - I absolutely have every intention of remaining optimistic. Yes, the military will be in charge for a while, but I think it's clear now that the Egyptians will not put up with any nonsense. I think it will take very little to get them back out on the streets again. In fact, they haven't really left yet, have they? ;-) My family is doing great, and everyone is happy, and these are moments that can't be measured, truly. We have a bright future to look forward to, and we won't allow for anything to ruin that. Thanks for your concern, Owen.

Sir Thomas - I really doubt that chaos will follow from here. Maybe I am the eternal optimist, but I don't think that's what's happening. I think I see a country ready to move forward without an inkling of doubt. :-)

  27. Laisser exploser sa joie, sauter partout dans la maison, rire et pleurer à la fois...C'est exactement ce que j'aurais fait aussi;o)
Il y a des moments comme ça dans la vie où la joie est trop forte pour être contenue;o)

  31. I've read the excitement of you and the other Egyptian bloggers I've come across. I put much more stake in what you say, your reaction, than the mixed messages and unease in the media here. Best wishes for this new dawn!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oscar - Hey, it's great to see you! And maybe it's now time for a few other places to try and clean up their act, as well. I've always believed that democracy must be born into the hearts of people for it to actually be effected. Well, we'll see what happens! Kisses back to you, Oscar! Thanks for stopping by...

Jason - I can understand some of the unease expressed in the media, but I really think it's unfounded. I hope for the best, and I'm very optimistic! Thanks, Jason.
