Lucid Delirium

"Blue Flower" by Georgia O'Keeffe

A languid whisper

roused me from my phantasy
to my cup of tea
into your enveloping delirium

In an iridescent emotion
obsessed with reverence

I smelled the hues of scent

that trailed
behind you

I sensed your presence
in my darkness (my lightness)
inside the vapid (illuminated)
chambers of my heart

Intruder – you dared!

Like the advent of an ancient
prophetess you glided through
the flesh of my awakening spirit
leaving me aflame (ohhhhhhh)
afire and pregnant with vision.

* * * This humble poem is dedicated to my muse, who kept me awake many a late night these past few weeks. Her whispers tortured, shocked, and delighted me in ways I can't begin to describe. Most importantly, her presence allowed me to pull back from everything and focus on writing as I enjoy it most – with pen and journal.

Ah, what sheer, unbridled pleasure to see a light in the window here...

For some reason, while reading this, it occurred to me to wonder if along with TS Eliot, do we perhaps share Tom Robbins as another source of written inspiration ? I've been re-reading Fierce Invalids these past days...

And a hundred thousand thank you's for your kind comment today... very good to see you back, and I'm glad the time off was good...

those pesky muses. how they love to dance upon our wounds and aches with temptations of healing and epic adventure...

this piece is a wonderful manner of return. thank you for being here, and for visiting me, as well. Peace.

Called over from Steven Anthonys site to say Hi, but I love your thoughts and poetry, so I'm going to join you on this journey to see where it leads me.
I always think how strange it is that we take inspiration from others. We all need muses.

I'll call back to see what is happening in your life.

Sometimes it is a wonderful thing to journal and write for oneself. I think I'm going to be spending time doing some of that. This poem was beautiful, like all of your pieces are.

I am glad she intruded. I guess she carries the message from all of us who missed reading your works. Glad to have you in the rounds dear Nevine and I so love your eyes in the side-bar. Almost watching all of us as we read, mull and write down the comments.

A big hug for the comeback.

Much love,
Susan

Oh, you, magic enchantress! I wondered for many a day whether it would be curtains for your blog. But, fortunately, that was not the case. What a passionate poem. I thank your muse for keeping you awake. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

From the shivers this poem gave me I suspect those late nights are producing some pretty fantastic stuff. Good for you. The vision of you with a pen and journal late at night is old fashioned and romantic, I love it! Don't stop now...

ConTemplate – Thank you; it really feels great to be back!

Steven – Yes, it was long but needed. Sometimes we have to listen to our souls… And I’m thrilled to see you too, Steven.

Pat – Well, thank you for that. :-)

Owen – Oh, you have such expressions that just carry the voice of “Owen” in them. I’ve learned to recognize your voice, even from such a difference. And I must admit I’ve never read anything by Tom Robbins, but you have piqued my curiosity and now I must go out and experiment with that. I’m sure I will enjoy him, but I will let you know. And there is no thanks for the truth… you are, quite simply, a unique artist.

Kim – Don’t they just, those muses? And it was a pleasure, as always, to visit you, Kim.

Nevine Sultan said...

Trish and Rob – Thanks!

Alice – Hello, and welcome! I’m very happy you decided to pop over for a visit. Lucky me! And I agree entirely that we all need muses. It’s such a pleasure to have you here. And I will be stopping in to visit you soon!

Eva – I’m amazed at how good it feels to hold a pen in my hand and just write until I’m sore. There’s something magical about it… and I’m not quite sure what it is.

Susan – You are ever sweet and kind and I’m so happy to be back “in the rounds”, as you say. It was hard to be away, at times, but it really was necessary for me to pull back and just take time to myself. Every once in a great while, I need it. But it’s really nice to be back with such sweet friends, and it’s always such a pleasure to see you here, Susan. Hugs back to you!

COL – And I bubble with joy every time I see that peaceful icon of yours in my comments section. You can’t begin to imagine how wonderful your sweet words make me feel. I am blessed to have such amazing friends as you, J. Je t’embrasse très très fort, mon ami.

Nevine Sultan said...

Kay – I agree entirely! And thank you.

Terresa – Thank you and welcome! I’ve been away the past few weeks so I haven’t had a chance to pay you a visit, but I’ll be doing that soon. I look forward to engaging with new friends…

Steveroni – How can I be upset? How can I not love what you’ve done? Here I am with tears in my eyes because I feel so very honored to know such a kind heart as you. I can’t help my tears, either. You are truly one of the sweetest people I know in blogland, Steve. I don’t know if I’ve said that enough times to you before, but you’ve really made me feel ultra special… and so very happy to be back! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and huge hugs to you!!!

Martin – Thank you, it feels great to be back, Martin!

A Daft Scots Lass – I agree entirely. And thanks for popping in for a visit…

Shadow – So good to see you here. And I do know you listen to your muses, too…

Cuban – I don’t know if I could quit blogging even if I wanted to. It’s become such an intrinsic part of my life. But I do have to admit it was nice to take a break. Sometimes we need that break even from those things we love to do… Thank you for your eternal kindness, Cuban!

Brian – Pen and journal seems to be the way to go for many who love to write. Nothing better than going back to basics. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I’ll be visiting you soon, too. It’s always nice to see and visit new people… always exciting!

Betty – And I’m happy to be back! And I’ve missed you, as well. It’s just awesome to be back in the company of such sweet frends.

Jai – Maybe it’s the romantic aspect of the pen and journal that makes it appealing to me… you might have touched on something there, Jai. Sometimes it takes someone else to clarify things about ourselves to us… Funny, huh? I’m hoping that some of what I’ve written in the past few weeks is “fantastic”! I really do… But no, I won’t be stopping. I think I’m on a roll…

Oh how I love those eyes of you at the side bar my sweet! I needed to say that before:
how glad and delighted I am you are back
But of course this is a place to comment.

I love that muse of yours and the way she responds to your thoughts into words only YOu can convey, that way. You are yourself an inspirationn to me. For one thing... to keep on blogging.
Thanks for everything

Oh Nevine...how I have missed your beautiful words! They do say that absence makes the heart beat stronger, and mine is certainly doing that. After your break, your new writing seems even more marvellously figurative, I loved your metaphor, your technique, your style...simply; everything. Welcome back, Nevine, we have all missed you greatly.

Sir Thomas - Why are you always so kind? Because you just are, I suppose... Thank you. :-)

Erin - Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. I actually thought it too simple to publish, but I decided to do it anyway. So thanks for the encouraging thoughts!

Dulce - You should always keep on blogging! Never ever quit! Sometimes we need breaks, and I know for sure I needed mine. But we know ourselves well enough to know when it's time to come back. So why quit? There's too much fun to be had. And thank YOU for being so wonderful and so supportive. Big hugs!

Sam - You are such a sweetheart. It makes me just smile to read your comment, and I'm so happy to be back and in the company of such kind friends. Thank you for your thoughts on my very very humble poem.

Cremilde - Oh, and how she intrudes, sometimes! But that is good. I miss her when she disappears. And merci, my dear, for coming in to check in on me, every once in a while as I took my break. It was heartening to see you here! Bises!!!

Judy - It feels great to be back! And it's good to see you here.

I am so glad you found your muse. And I am also glad to find you back at your keyboard, as well.

And thank you for the O'Keefe. I think she and I would have gotten on famously - our minds seem to run in similar directions. So many never really understood her paintings.

Jenean - I've missed being here, but my time away was much needed. That having been said, it feels good to be back. It's always an absence of something that makes us crave it all the more... Thank you for always thoughtful comments, Jenean.

Carrie - Welcome to you! And thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'll be by to explore your place soon...

Nipun - Well, I was out for a while myself... And thank you for stopping in. It's always nice to see you around here, Nipun.

Nes - You've always got something nice to say. I really appreciate that. "Magic" is something I love but never thought I could create... You're giving me hope. ;-)

Lou - O'Keefe is such a talented artist with a huge and amazing portfolio, I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't understand and appreciate her. And thank you. I'm glad to be back at the keyboard as well!

LW - Thanks! And boy is she welcome. She's always welcome - I just don't know if she realizes it. ;-)

Mme. DeFarge - I'm glad, too. And though I was away from my computer and such, I was busily scribbling. So, I suppose that was a good thing... It's nice to be back to such sweet words.

Cynthia - You manage to always make me smile from ear to ear. This was really a minimal effort; I was just playing around with that thought and figured "Why not share it?" I thought it a simple way to come back, I suppose.

glad to see you're back - hope your time off treated you well!

and glad to see your poetry is as wonderful as ever - "afire and pregnant with vision" - love that!

though i must say, of all the words i might use to try to describe your heart, "vapid" would not be among them. it courses flames and wonders, nevine.

Joaquin - It's so good to see you here! And yes, my time off was awesome. I really needed it, and so there was no point in denying myself that little treat. And I'm so pleased by your comment about this most humble piece. I really wanted to say things simply, and I felt it inadequate, in a way, so I'm happy to know you liked it. And thank you also for the "courses flames and wonders..." That put a smile on my face.

Roxy - Where have you been? It has been forever since I've seen you, or read something written by you. But I know and understand that real life calls, and we must answer. Thank you for stopping in, Roxy. I really appreciate it.

Menina - Thank you, and I'm so happy to be back.
